2 weeks until the wedding :)

Am I organised for the wedding?

NO.

Is everything paid for?

NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Am I excited and giddy nonetheless?

Yes :)

I'm in love and I can't wait to marry Alun. (Who thought I'd be saying anything like this 5 years ago, eh? WOAH).

Only 2 weeks to go! Can you believe it?!? Where does time go? Honestly!

I've only just booked in a hairdresser for the day and the items I ordered 4 weeks ago (!!!) are only just starting to arrive in the mail now. I ordered 100 clear, large cupcake boxes so that the cupcakes we're having (omg you should see them - they're gorgeous!) can be used as wedding favours. I know I'd like a cheeky 'late night cupcake'...I'm hoping the people I love will like them, too :) I'm meeting with Ashleigh at the Rooftop Bar to discuss final payment (ARGH) of the reception this coming Monday, I'm paying off my flowers this week and I'm also paying for (God, help me) my wedding dress alterations and picking my lovely gown up to take home this Wednesday.

This Sunday is my Hen's "sparkling afternoon tea", too :)

RAAARRRR. It's all go...and I don't have enough money!

I figure if I just don't eat and somehow dodge paying the rent (how?) I'll have just about enough for the reception, the flowers, my dress, the hairdressers, the hotel room and the cupcakes.

*deep breaths*

Alun said he wants to help pay for things, too. That will help SO MUCH. I wanted to do this all without him as he's been out of work so long and is only starting to get money in now...but $1500 would definitely help me not drown in payments. Al said he'll transfer the money this week.

Phew. That will pay for drinks at the Reception, I just need to pay for the food, the decorations, the flowers, the hotel room...and all many of other things.

These things are all sorted/paid for:

- Makeup on the day for myself and my 2 lovely bridesmaids - $300
- The Wedding "guest book" which is actually Jenga (wooden blocks that make a tower), a set of "sharpies" (pens) and a sign asking guests to sign a block so that when Al and I play in future, we'll have a reminder of our wedding day and loved ones - $50
- My wedding dress (just have to pay for the alterations now) - $320
- I've set aside $1000 in a special "wedding" account for the Reception food
- the booking payment for the Rooftop bar where we're having our Reception - $500
- Alun paid up front about a year ago for the Wedding Ceremony so if it all goes to poo - we can still definitely get married :)
- wedding cupcake boxes - $50
- my gorgeous hair extensions - OMG they are awesome and I cant wait to wear them on my wedding day!!! - $50

Things to pay for by the end of next week (EEK!) :

- wedding flowers (my bouquet, corsages for Jess and Caris, buttonholes for Alun and Troy) $180
- wedding dress alterations $235
- extra $300 for Reception food because $1000 wont be enough food for 60-odd guests
- wedding hairdresser $120 (ish?)
- $250 for 70 of the most gorgeous cupcakes I've ever seen (this includes delivery)
- Rydges Hotel Room for 2 nights - $360

Once that's done...I can breathe easy and start to enjoy the thought of marrying Alun is the Best thing ever!

It's scary and I'm dealing with some internal guilt over marrying a 2nd time when I grew up thinking it should only ever be done once (we wont dwell on that, though - otherwise I'll fall apart)...but underneath it all, I just want to be Al's and for him to always be mine.

Now to figure out how to pay for everything by Friday xx

that's how long it took for my friend...let's call him "Adrian"...to open a letter from me. Adrian's had a rough time of late with 2 of his closest friends dying within months of each other. I wanted to send him some support and encouragement in the post so I picked a card with a load of cartoon acorns on the front. The card read "If I had an acorn for every time I thought of you, other people would say I had too many acorns!" then inside, the card said "And they'd be wrong!" It was so cute, even in the store as I read it, I knew I loved it and wanted to buy it for someone. I wrote about how I'd be there for Adrian any time he needed to talk and that he was loved and not alone. I posted it off with a happy smile and hoped it would bless him. I think it took about a week for the card to reach Adrian...but I didn't hear anything back from him for almost 3 weeks all up...because he was scared to open his card. Adrian's anxiety had...

I learnt to cook because my Mom left us

My parents have "been together" for 38 years. And I used "been together" very loosely because in all those years, about 28 of them has been incredibly rocky. My parents have screamed, shouted, threatened and hurt each other more than I thought anyone could. They've constantly split up and gotten back together. Every time they split up, we had to move house and I had to ferry my younger brother between two homes and make it seem like an adventure "Yay!Sleepover at Dad's!" so he could live a basically normal life. On one of their MANY break ups, my parents each got a new partner. Mom went out with this Dutch guy and to this day I don't know his name because I called him "Meathead". He was like a well-meaning ogre who rode a motorbike.  Anyway, when Mom starting "seeing" Meathead, she and I got into a huge fight about how she was never home (she wasn't) and Mom decided to leave us altogether. I was in my late teens so Jay w...
